Biography
DE / ENSimon Edelmann, 1st prize winner at the renowned 2nd KNSO International Conducting Competition, has served as Kapellmeister of the Vogtland Philharmonie since the 2024/25 season. He has already performed with renowned orchestras such as Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, Hamburg Symphoniker, Staatskapelle Weimar, Musikalische Komödie Leipzig, Niederrheinische Symphoniker and the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic Orchestra, which immediately invited him back for another production.
Since 2022 Simon Edelmann has been a scholarship holder of the Forum Dirigieren of the German Music Council. Last season, this took him to the Saarland Radio Symphony Orchestra, to the Critical Orchestra Berlin and to the Hofer Symphoniker. In 2024, he was also accepted into the concert promotion program (former „Maestros von Morgen“) of the Forum Dirigieren.
He is a multiple award winner at international competitions, including the 1st Prize and Audience Prize at the 2nd KNSO International Conducting Competition in November 2024, the 3rd Prize at the 16th Dimitri Mitropoulos International Conducting Competition in May 2024, and the 1st Prize and Orchestra Prize at the 3rd International Conducting Competition University of Almeria in December 2023.
He studied with Prof. Nicolas Pasquet and Prof. Ekhart Wycik at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar and with Prof. Ulrich Windfuhr at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, where he graduated with a concert performance degree with honor in 2024. As a scholarship holder of the Ernst Boehe Academy from 2020 to 2022, he served as Assistant Conductor of the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz and its Principal Conductor Michael Francis.
